Curation

My approach to curation is rooted in research and in-depth historical tracking, with a focus on how art movements, institutions, and artist collectives developed across the modern Middle East—especially in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf. I’m currently the Assistant Curator for Hafez Gallery’s Beginnings project, an encyclopedic exhibition that traces how art in Saudi Arabia took shape, evolved, and built its foundations. The exhibition brings together more than 60 pioneering artists, examines institutional and cultural archives, and highlights the early development of art education in the Kingdom. This research-driven foundation also shapes my past work, including guest curating “Saudi Melodies” at Ithra, where historical context and artist perspectives guide every curatorial choice.

Writing

My writing sits at the intersection of art history, cultural analysis, and storytelling. I’ve produced artist interviews, profiles, and research-driven articles for outlets like Al Qafilah, Ithraeyat Magazine, Thmanyah Media, and Gallery Bawa, always aiming to translate complex historical and aesthetic ideas into clear, engaging narratives. My work spans critical essays, exhibition texts, and long-form features, with a focus on modern and contemporary art in the Gulf.

Research & Documentation

My research practice is rooted in careful documentation, archival work, and field-based inquiry. Through projects like the Art Jameel Research Grant, I’ve conducted oral histories, archival investigations, and interviews that map the development of Gulf and Saudi art movements. I’m comfortable synthesizing large amounts of historical material, structuring research frameworks, and producing accessible outputs that inform broader cultural understanding.
